Strategic Plan Kickoff & Input Meetings

The Board of Trustees has endorsed the start of a new strategic planning process to guide the district forward for the next five to ten years. The process will be led by the Superintendent and be facilitated by an experienced educational leader, Joann Merrick. We are assembling a district planning team from the applications we have received, and team meetings will begin in November.

Before the team starts its work, we want to solicit input from all members of the Los Gatos school communities through two Town Hall meetings: October 17 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Lexington School and October 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Blossom Hill School. The first session will focus on district mission, vision and values, and the second on themes for the future of the district and its strengths today. Please join us for either or both.

One More Opportunity for TB Testing

Thank you for your efforts to participate in our new TB Testing program to ensure we are in compliance with health and safety laws. Because of your enthusiastic response, we have scheduled one last session at Daves Avenue School, with testing on Monday October 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and readings on Wednesday October 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please remember there should be a full 48 hours between the test and the reading.

Student Achievement on the Rise in LGUSD

Toward the end of each summer for the past decade, school districts across California have anxiously awaited the results of the state's STAR examinations. We're pleased to report that Los Gatos rose 23 points to an Academic Performance Index of 911, placing us among the elite elementary school districts in the state that score more than 100 points over the statewide target of 800. Each of our schools showed improved achievement to contribute to the district-wide success. The API is only one measure of successful learning but we congratulate our teachers and students on this upward trajectory in our results.
