What is TLDA?

TLDA is a bold teaching and learning initiative designed to improve student access to technology and provide opportunities to transform teaching and learning in LGUSD through a systematic dissemination of hardware and professional development. TLDA is aligned to national and state standards and proposes teaching and learning with laptops housed in mobile carts in third through eighth grade classrooms. The TLDA initiative represents the collective work of parents, teachers, and LGUSD administration collaborating in the development of the following:

  1. Students will employ and integrate current technology resources in mastering the district curriculum.

LGUSD Team Visit to Fisler  
 

Laptop learning programs are expanding throughout the United States as school districts seek ways to make better use of new technologies to enhance student learning. A statewide laptop program has been organized in Maine, and a number of school districts throughout the country have initiated local programs. The Fullerton School District launched one of the largest pilot laptop programs in California in the 2004-2005 school year. As part of this program, more than 1,000 students at three district schools were provided with laptop computers.

LGUSD took a team of 15 to visit Fisler on May 20th. The team included teachers, parents, district administrators, an LGEF Representative, Fisher Principal and a H&SC representative.

LGUSD Team Visit to Reed   

Reed Movie

Reed Union School District's current Strategic Plan empowers the district to
“Create a culture that embraces and boldly utilize technology.” The Millennial Classroom Project supports this vision by cultivating and creating flexible school environments. Possibilities to extend and enhance learning for each student become unlimited now that the tools to access relevant and needed information are available for every teacher and every learner. In this new vision, students are learning WITH technology—not ABOUT technology. The traditional classroom is expanded beyond the walls when students become active learners who can and do impact their own education.

LGUSD took a team of five to visit Reed Union School District on May 5th. The team included teachers, district administrator and Principal of Van Meter Elementary.
